About
What's VCE Study Guides about?
VCE Study Guides is designed to help you understand or gain greater insight to the texts you're studying in VCE English or ESL. We're basically aiming to become one massive study guide database for VCAA English/ESL texts – all of which you can use for free!
How is VCE Study Guides different to other websites that publish study guides?
Our study guides address the criteria VCAA sets for VCE students. This means we specifically write on texts that are included in the VCAA design. It also means that we focus on VCAA English/ESL unit outcomes – instead of just providing a generic study guide with standard features like plot summary, themes and important quotes, we take it an extra step further, looking at VCAA requirements. For text response, we look into text construction, metalanguage, author messages and more. For context, we explore the context ideas, investigate how the selected books/movies represent these ideas and also provide suggestions of external sources such as media or historical events related to the context. In doing so, we hope that users of VCE Study Guides can develop a greater understanding of what is required of them while studying VCE English/ESL.
Who can use this site?

Who writes these study guides?
Lisa, the creator and author of VCE Study Guides writes these study guides. She studied VCE during 2007-2008 with English as her highest study score. She is currently tutoring several VCE students while studying her 1st preference at University.
Why did she create VCE Study Guides?
During her final years of school, she found that while searching for information on her VCE books online, there weren’t many resources available – especially if it was an Australian text. Furthermore, there were few resources for the four ‘Contexts’ VCAA designed specifically for VCE English/ESL. As a tutor over the past couple of years, she noticed that many of her students encounter the same problem. They come to her with few additional notes that are actually beneficial to their studies. So as a result, she decided to make a comprehensive website focused solely on the VCE English/ESL course which could help all VCE students to succeed in their English studies for FREE.
Why isn't my VCE text on VCE Study Guides?
We've only just launched this website in March 2011. Please give us some time to upload study guides. You are welcome to subscribe to us so that you can receive updates on what the site has uploaded recently. In the meantime, don't forget VCE Blog, which is also intended to help you out with your studies!
